The ancient practice of honouring the land and taking part in fertility rituals took place at Beltane, the time when Spring was at its peak and Winter with its times of hardship and little food had receded. In this painting a Mother and Daughter make an offering of flowers in a landscape of verdant trees and hills. Such a pretty painting and Celia Roberts characters are imbued with a depth of feeling that draws the eye like no other.

A full refund for the price of the work exclusive of postage and packaging costs will be made upon return. Clients are responsible for the safe return of the item in its original condition and packaging to claim a refund. We are only too happy to assist in this process and offer advice on sending the artwork back to avoid damage in transit.

We are pleased to sell works on behalf of Celia Roberts Born 1950 in Stafford Educated at Oxford University 1969-1973 BA Hons in Hebrew. She has exhibited in the Arterie Gallery in Ludlow, and in the Washington Gallery in Penarth. Celia Roberts’s pictures, although highly influenced by religion, are intended to capture states of feeling rather than theological ideas.She has always been fascinated by the idea of the women at the tomb, Mary Magdalene’s unexpected meeting with someone she thought dead, for example, especially as depicted by Duccio di Boninsegna.
